Vacation rental home tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Wilmington, NC attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Choosing the perfect vacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Tranquil Harbor: Treetop Gem with Private Dock and Canal Views, has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
